The words to read
Working on Mindset is the companion to Fixed versus Growth Mindset. That one tells you where you lean. This one looks at what you do about it.
Five statements, each rated one to five, giving you a score out of 25. They are about practice rather than belief. How you respond when something is hard. Whether you ask for feedback or avoid it. What you do after a failure.
The distinction matters. Carol Dweck's later work at Stanford, after growth mindset became a poster in every school corridor, was partly a correction. She started writing about what she called a false growth mindset, where people declare they have one, praise effort for its own sake, and change nothing about how they behave when they struggle.
Believing that ability can be developed is worth very little on its own. Trying a different strategy when the first one fails is where the effect is.
So these five statements are deliberately behavioural. Score low, and you have five specific things to practise rather than an attitude to adopt.
Retake it in a few months. This score should move faster than your mindset score, because behaviour changes before belief follows.
If a habit comes out of it, put it into Building Habits, attached to something you already do.
